We have 7 pharmacists that cover the 4 infusion centers providing first and second verification of parenteral chemotherapy. There are a total of 5 certified pharmacy technicians who prepare chemotherapy and 3 technicians that work as Pharmacy Reimbursement Specialists in the clinics to aid in Co-pay and Patient Assistance. We have recently added a BMT pharmacist who provides services for 5 hematologists. These pharmacists work closely with our Specialty Pharmacy to ensure timely turn-around times and a seamless process for our patients.

What are some challenges you face now or will face in the future?
Access to oral chemotherapy agents continues to be challenging at times. Additionally there has been a steady increase in the number of oral oncolytics that are approved and although administration of treatment at home is convenient for patients, the complexities and toxicities of the agents continues. Continuous monitoring and follow-up with patients is key in obtaining optimal results with little adverse effects.
