Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI)

Simmons Cancer Institute is certified by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) through the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Only 276 practices in the United States are currently QOPI certified (Fall 2016). The QOPI Certification Program incorporates measures and standards based on clinical guidelines for quality oncology care. It is led by practicing oncologists, advanced practice oncology providers, Oncology Certified Nurses and quality experts.

National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC)

Simmons Cancer Institute’s Breast Center has been rated 100 percent compliant on all 27 evaluation standards for accreditation used by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Administered by the American College of Surgeons, the NAPBC was established to ensure that accredited institutions provide the most efficient, effective and up-to-date care available for patients with breast disease. The 100 percent rating includes the requirement that breast centers provide patients with information about ongoing cancer clinical trials and new treatment options. Other standards include access to prevention and early detection programs, cancer education and support services. The NAPBC also requires that programs conduct regular self-assessments to monitor outcomes while constantly seeking out ways to provide better service to the community.
