Course Description

The goal of this activity is to provide pharmacists and pharmacy technicians an overview of HER2 positive breast cancer exploring, risk factors, treatment modalities and the latest guidelines and clinical trials surrounding HER2 positive breast cancer drug therapy management. This program will comprehensively review all treatment modalities of HER2 breast cancer and the respective drug therapy recommendations including pertinent clinical considerations, monitoring and therapies down the pipeline. Audience members will gain improved and reinforced knowledge about current HER2 positive breast cancer therapy management and the tools necessary to improve patient outcomes across key stages of breast cancer care.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss the epidemiology, pathophysiology and etiology of breast cancer.
  2. Differentiate the various types of breast cancer.
  3. Identify breast cancer screening and diagnosis recommendations.
  4. Define pertinent clinical treatment parameters for HER2 positive breast cancer based on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines.
  5. Recognize pertinent drug classes for HER2 positive breast cancer treatment and their respective adverse effects.
