Activity Description
This continuing educational activity aims to provide a comprehensive overview of United States Pharmacopeia (USP) <800> standards, focusing on the safe handling of hazardous drugs (HDs) in healthcare settings. Participants will learn about the purpose, current requirements, and importance of USP <800>, and will be able to distinguish between different HD exposure settings. The activity will also cover the classification of facilities and engineering controls, recognize essential safety measures, and examine recent safety enhancements, such as closed-system transfer devices (CSTDs) and vented hoods, to improve compliance and safety. By the end of this session, participants will be equipped with the knowledge to implement and adhere to USP <800> standards effectively.

Learning Objectives
- Describe the purpose, current requirements, and importance of United States Pharmacopeia (USP) <800>.
Review the role of National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in hazardous drug (HD) designation and its impact on USP <800> standards.
Distinguish the different HD exposure settings and the different facilities and engineering controls. 4. Recognize safety measures and their importance within oncology practice settings.
