CAZENOVIA, NY – NCODA, a non-profit organization whose Mission is to empower the medically-integrated oncology team to deliver positive, patient-centered outcomes – announces the appointment of three new members to its executive council: William Mitchell, MD, Lance Ortega, MBA, BSN, RN, OCN, and Latha Radhakrishnan, PharmD, BCPS, BCOP. The newly appointed members are esteemed healthcare professionals at leading cancer care centers across the country, and have been selected to serve alongside an already established leadership group that will continue to be instrumental in facilitating organizational direction that focuses on improved oncology patient care through sharing of expertise, quality standards, and best practices.

“Having served on the NCODA Executive Council for several years now, I look forward to working alongside the new members of this leadership team,” stated Randy Erickson, RN, BSN, MBA, CEO of Utah Cancer Specialists, and Chair of the NCODA Executive Council. “Our focus is on the patient, and when we all come together to work to improve systems and introduce more oncology healthcare professionals with NCODA resources, patients benefit.”

Each professional brings a vast knowledge of the oncology landscape, and most importantly, they share a genuine passion for patients. Out council will be enriched by their unique insights and experience. These leaders will enhance NCODA’s impact in these ever-changing times to ensure all oncology stakeholders are empowered to provide the best care possible.”

The new Executive Council members are:

  • William Mitchell, MD, Founding Physician | Southern Oncology Specialists
    Mitchell founded Southern Oncology Specialists in 2010. With the opening of the first location, he has grown his practice into a vertically integrated private practice serving patients in five locations. Dr. Mitchell received his undergraduate degree Magna Cum Laude at Marshall University. Furthering his education at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and completing both his internal medicine residency and fellowship at Wake Forest University’s Bowman Gray School of Medicine. From 1994 to 1995, he was the Chief Fellow of Oncology. He previously was the Chairman of Oncology for Novant Health Huntersville and assisted the Internal Medicine Residency Program for Oncology Rotation for Carolina’s Medical Center.

 

  • Lance Ortega, MBA, BSN, RN, OCN, Executive Director of Clinical Services | Texas Oncology
    Lance currently oversees the entire state of Texas, which encompasses over 200 Texas Oncology sites of service, and nearly 2,000 clinical professionals. This includes advanced practice providers, dietitians, genetic counselors, nurses, and social workers. He possesses over a decade of oncology experience, and his dedication to bettering patient care while increasing staff engagement & satisfaction leads him in all his pursuits.

 

  • Latha Radhakrishnan, PharmD, BCPS, BCOP, Clinical Oncology Pharmacist / Clinical Assistant Professor | University of Illinois Cancer Center / UIC College of Pharmacy
    Latha is a clinical oncology pharmacist at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System, and a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy. She is board certified in both oncology pharmacy and pharmacotherapy. Radhakrishnan received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she also completed her primary care residency. She completed her pharmacy practice residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
