NEW YORK STATE PUSHES ONCOLOGY MOMENTUM FORWARD

The legislative victories continue to pile up, recently we have seen major victories in Texas, Tennessee and now in NCODA home state of New York. Yesterday, the New York State Assembly passed a bill that previously was successful in the New York State Senate. This bill known as the “AMMO Bill” would strengthen some of the standards in a current law that would give consumers the option to access all covered medication from a local pharmacy and would NOT be forced into mandatory mail ordering of medications.

The continued monitoring and revoking of power of Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM) is a major victory for all oncology patients, their providers and practices. This bill in New York aims to eliminate the continued struggles that patients face when trying to fill their prescriptions locally and offers continuity of care.

This bill will now be sent to the desk of Governor Andrew Cuomo for his signature which will officially make this bill a law. NCODA will continue to update our membership as more details begin to unfold, we will be monitoring the decision that will be made by Governor Cuomo.
