Nursing Community Gathering – March 2026

Date: March 13, 2026 | 3:00 PM

Our March Nursing Community Gathering focuses on oncology rehabilitation and how it supports patients before, during, and after treatment—helping preserve function, manage side effects, and improve quality of life across the care journey.

Kaitlin Pennington, MS, CCC-SLP and Sarah Blount, DPT, CLT (Cancer Rehab Group) will share how rehab can be integrated alongside the oncology care team, from prehabilitation through survivorship, using proactive, patient-centered strategies.

What we’ll talk about:

  • What oncology rehabilitation is, and where it fits across the continuum of care
  • Prehabilitation: building resilience ahead of surgery or systemic therapy
  • Rehab strategies during treatment (fatigue, pain, weakness, mobility, safety)
  • Post-treatment recovery: restoring function and addressing long-term effects into survivorship
  • Working collaboratively to identify risk early and intervene before side effects become barriers
