About Yen

Yen Nguyen holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Science (BS) from Texas A&M University in College Station. With over 20 years of experience as a pharmacist, her diverse background spans PBMs, hospital, mail-order, retail chain, and community oncology pharmacy settings.

During her time at Kroger, she was recognized for outstanding performance, earning the title of Fastest Growing Pharmacy in Sales for the Southwest Region three years in a row—among more than 140 stores.

In 2006, Yen followed her passion for oncology and joined Oncology Consultants as their in-office dispensing pharmacist. Over the past 19 years, she has played a key role in the organization’s growth. Today, Oncology Consultants stands as the largest independent physician-owned oncology practice in Houston, with 18 oncologists, 15 clinical sites, and three specialty retail pharmacies offering MTM and vaccination services.

Yen now embarks on a new chapter as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Analyst at Athena Oncology, a national network representing 28 independent oncology practices.

She has served as one of the original Advisory Members for the Specialty Oncology Network within ION and has held several leadership roles in key industry organizations. For the past eight years, she has served on the Executive Council of the National Community Oncology Dispensing Association (NCODA), the Board of the Community Oncology Pharmacy Alliance (COPA)—where she is the current co-chair—and the Governmental and Policy Committee (GAP) for the Community Oncology Alliance (COA).

Yen is the visionary behind several of NCODA’s most impactful tools and initiatives, including the Cost Avoidance Waste Tracker, the Financial Assistance Tool, and the NCODA logo. She also previously served as Digital Strategist for NCODA.

Currently, she is appointed to the Public Policy Council and Association Council for the Texas Pharmacy Association.

Yen brings extensive expertise in GPOs, payer contracting, credentialing, and pharmacy operations and buildouts. Outside of work, she enjoys golfing, fishing, and exploring new culinary experiences.
